scoop! new psychic tv album

So a couple weeks ago I ran into Genesis P-Orridge near Union Square.  S/he and I had a brief chat, we agreed to an interview in the near future, and s/he told me there’s a new Psychic TV album due out in October.  “Our best album yet” she said (though I don’t really know how anything can top Dreams Less Sweet) it’s titled:

MR ALIEN BRAIN versus THEE SKINWALKERS

“The majority of tracks were recorded in Philadelphia in May 2008 LIVE for “WORLD CAFE” a program on NPR (National Public Radio).

The track listing is:

1. A THIN GARDEN
2. NO GOOD TRYING ( cover of SYD BARRETT song)
3. TRUSSED
4. THEE ALIEN BRAIN
5. PAPAL BREAKDANCE (definitive version)
6. HAY HAY HAY (Pickles And Jam)
7. FOGGY NOTION ( cover of Velvet Underground song)
8. I’M MAKING A MIRROR ( Lady Jaye’s song/poem for Genesis)
9. NEW YORK STORY ( Michael Gira mix)
10. I LOVE YOU…I KNOW

Tracks 2;3;4;5;6;and 7 were recorded direct to “tape” at NPR Studios. There are NO overdubs, no remixing. What you hear is what we played. PTV3 had not played together for 6 months. Basically not since Lady Jaye dropped her body on October 9th 2007. We had ONE short, one hour rehearsal the night before. Then went in and played our hearts and souls out for Lady Jaye. We are amazed how sensitive and exact the breaks and textures are considering we were relying totally on our instinct in the moment.

This album is, of course, dedicated to LADY JAYE BREYER P-ORRIDGE.

S/he is (STILL) her/e.

For the realisation of this project Psychic TV/PTV3 were:-

Lady Jaye Breyer P-Orridge - Vocals, percussion, samples.
Edley ODowd - drums, noise bass and percussion
Hanna Haddix - samples and percussion
Marrkus Aurelius Cirkus Maximus Fabulous Perrson - Keyboards
David XXX Maxxx - Lead Guitars and vocals
Alice Genese - Bass Guitar and vocals
Genesis Breyer P-Orridge - Noise Bass, vocals and percussion

A BREYER P-ORRIDGE/EDWARD ODOWD HYPERDELIC PRODUCTION.
Mastered by BRYIN DALL and GENESIS BREYER P-ORRIDGE at Waxy Yellow Build Up Studios, New York July 2008.
Recorded live at “WORLD CAFE”, National Public Radio, Philadelphia May 2008 and at GALAPAGOS Arts Space, Brooklyn, New York 2007.

This album is lovingly dedicated to LADY JAYE BREYER P-ORRIDGE 1969-2007.”

I kind of can’t wait to hear the album. Here’s a link to the original NPR piece the album was recorded for.
