My choice for BREAKOUT ARTIST of the year: Wareika, also one of the most underrated artists of the year!
MOST OVERRATED underground tracks of the year: psychotic photosynthesis/the further you look… If these cuts had been made by anybody but Omar S they would have been immediately written off as fair to middling, but his cult following is strong (though certainly not undeservedly so!) this is just not nearly the best of his work.
Most talked about track that actually really, really, REALLY sucked - Radio Slave - Grindhouse (Dubfire terror planet remix)
House album of the year: Ian Pooley - In Other Words
Techno album of the year: Andy Stott - Unknown Exception
Dubstep: Still sucks! (though some stuff that many would call dubstep has been growing on me, like scuba’s stuff, for example)
DJ Mix of the Year: Three way tie - either Adam Marshall’s LWE podcast or Jackmate’s MNML SSGS mix or James Gyre’s “Mixing Dirty”.
aw, thanks frank. i’m actually a little down on that mix, but i’m glad you love it. i’ve got a new one in the works, which you should dig… if i ever finish it. i’m trying to keep it quality over rapidity of release, ya know. it’s all ableton, though… but i think i can do 80 tracks in 80 minutes and have it really be fun…
