could somebody please explain to me how morgan geist manages to out-detroit carl craig on the latest environ single “detroit”? i mean, granted, morgan lived in ohio for a while, so he gets the whole midwest thang, and admittedly with darshan jesrani as metro area he’s been rocking an ahead-of-the-curve italo disco meets soulful techno vibe for years and years, but still. to include not one but two carl craig remixes both weaker than the original track? that’s just showing off. it’s like “here, carl, i’m going to simultaneously pay homage to your city by appropriating its sound and hand you your ass on a plate by asking you to remix what’s basically an unimprovable track.” carl: “five orders rings of chicken and a crave case? thank you, drive through.”

too sleepy to make this pretty, here’s another little vocal snippet for you. if i were to sample this into a track, it would be called “morning thunder” and it would be a 6AM comedown psytrance track with insane shpongle-esque rhythm pattern shifts and what not. and i would get bonus points for intersecting seinfeld and 30 rock.

Whose house? Our house.
It’s a friggin’ crime that this post is only the second time I’m sharing an audio snippet that I think would make a good sample for a track. Anticipating this weekend’s NFL kickoff here’s a football related classic that oughta’ be in an acid house style cut. Can anybody identify the source? I’ve given a huge hint.
Don’t say I never gave ya nuthin’, because I’ve always wanted to sample this myself!
Go Steelers!
